Strathendrick RFC and the women’s team made history again today hosting their first ever women’s rugby festival welcoming Musselburgh and RDVC from the Women’s East Aspiring League.

Strathendrick women, with their Aberfeldy team mates and friends from Bannockburn, took to a wet and muddy pitch under surprisingly bright skies, with Storm Ashley pausing for just enough time to allow some incredible rugby to take place without a drop of rain.

Strathendrick had a solid defensive line from the start, putting huge amounts of pressure on their opposition, which prevented even the youngest and quickest of players breaking through. Outstanding team play saw Strathendrick women regularly take control of the game and move closer and closer to the opposition try line with three outstanding team tries scored during the festival. There were some brilliant individual performances with each player achieving personal goals and stepping up for their team to celebrate three score draws.

In the eye of the storm Fintry was witness to the strength, tenacity and resilience of a group of truly fantastic women who are fast becoming an amazing rugby team. Let’s go Endrick!!
