Strathendrick RFC reach new heights by being awarded the Best Overall Sports Club in Scotland for 2024.

We would like to share exciting news that last Saturday at ClubSports Scotland Annual Dinner in Perth, Strathendrick were awarded Best Sports Club in Scotland for 2024.

Scottish Sports Club of the Year 2024

This is a remarkable achievement for a rural Stirlingshire sports club and reflects the outstanding development work done and commitment made by many people over a number of years. The Club now runs:

7 Mini teams (Primary School age)
5 Midi / Youth boys’ teams, in close collaboration with Balfron High School
4 Girls’ Youth Teams
2 senior men’s teams
2 women’s team

The 1 st XV is currently top of the Arnold Clark West Region League Division 2, with healthy numbers attending training on a regular basis. The Midis play in the Inspiresport West B Schools Conference; and the junior boys’ and girls’ teams have enjoyed character-forming tours across the UK and abroad. The fitness, health, wellbeing and social benefits for hundreds of people – young and not so young – from our community derived from rugby and our associated activities cannot be over-stated.

These achievements were recognised last year by the Club winning the following accolades:

SRU Grassroots Rugby Club of the Year (Caledonia Region) 2023

SRU Grassroots Rugby Club of the Year 2023

Active Stirling Club Engagement of the Year 2024

Active Stirling Volunteer of the Year (Steven McCooey) 2024

SRU Young Volunteer of the Year (Murrin Thomson) 2024

This remarkable collection is now complemented by this latest award recognising Strathendrick as one of the most progressive and best run Sport Clubs in Scotland. Our playing and coaching strength has never been stronger and, due to membership numbers, Scottish Rugby’s backing and the support of our community and sponsors.

It was fitting in the 50th year of Strathendrick's founding that Ian McVean, the Club Treasurer and co-founder of Strathendrick Rugby Club was there in Perth to enjoy the occasion of receiving this award.
