Rugby, what rugby!!!

Rugby, what rugby!!!

Storm Darragh impacts Strathendrick plans...

There was to be no rugby for the 1st and 2nd XV teams at the weekend as the effects of Storm Darragh and player availability took control of proceedings.

The 1st XV at Cumbernauld was called off just after 10.00am the pitch being waterlogged – not unexpected given the amount of rain which had fallen on the Friday. Disappointing but understandable and very frustrating as the squad were keen to exorcise the memory of the last game at Maybole.

The scheduled 2nd XV league match with Lanarkshire visiting Fintry had been conceded mid-week when the visitors could not raise a side.

Both games will be rescheduled by the SRU and the revised dates posted on the website.

At the time of writing, both teams top their respective leagues:
The 1st XV will not be shifted as the nearest challengers Carrick, two points behind having played one game more are also “resting” this week their game at Birkmyre also a victim of the weather.
The 2nd XV, although top, are in a less secure position – only one point ahead of Dalziel and four ahead of Cartha QP and have played one game more than both; these 2 sides were scheduled to meet at Dumbreck today. At 10.30 the SRU website shows the game is still on – perhaps not likely knowing the pitches there.

Both the 1st & 2nd teams have league rugby scheduled for next week when Lomond/Helensburgh visit Fintry for a 1st XV match and the 2s travel to face GU Hills venue to be confirmed.

The younger sections of the club had similar bad news. The Saturday morning Midi fixtures against Lenzie Academy were postponed on Friday afternoon, the games have been rescheduled for next week, 14th December.
Our mini rugby teams, also due to visit Lenzie RFC on Sunday, were cancelled Saturday morning.

The weather has certainly taken its toll on Endrick rugby this weekend, lets all hope for an improving forecast ahead of next weeks schedule.
