The Balfron Strathendrick Girls U16 Rugby Team are announced as winners of the Glasgow North Aspiring League in their first season.

Following a successful round of league fixtures since the start of the season, Strathendrick U16s Girls were invited as Winners of the Glasgow North Aspiring League to the National Finals day on Sunday 4th Dec at the Oriam Stadium in Edinburgh.

They were joined by the winners of the other leagues, East Lothians, Wigtonshire and Glenrothes as well as the 2nd and 3rd places from the east, Peebles and Kelso.
The girls were put into Pool A with East Lothian and Peebles.

First up was a hard fought match against a well drilled East Lothian team. Despite our best efforts and sustaining few injuries we were unable to keep them away from our try line. The final score saw us loose 6 tries to 2.

The second game saw East Lothian take on Peebles. Again, East Lothian dominated and won 7 tries to 2. Next up was Strathendrick versus Peebles. Strathendrick came out fighting and at full time the girl's determination had paid off with a win of 8 tries to 5. This saw the girls progress to the 2nd place playoffs with the 2nd place team from Pool B. The 3rd place playoff saw Peebles dominate Kelso and going on to win 11 trys to 4.

Our final game was again Glenrothes. Another closely contested match but Strathendrick came out victorious winning 8 tries to 4. East Lothian went on to win the final against Wigtonshire who were runners up. Strathendrick coming 3rd overall. At the end the girls were presented with their League winners board.

These girls have shown so much determination over the past 18 months since the girl's teams have been established. To reach the finals in their first year as a team is an exceptional achievement and as a club we celebrate this success and the success of the girl's section as a whole.
